Harms & Wende GmbH & Co. KG (HWH) is a medium-sized producer of control systems in the welding sector since 1946. Its main focus is on pressure resistance welding. The company occupies the first place as supplier for automotive manufacturers and the second regarding the tier industry in Germany (e.g. Mercedes, Benteler and BMW). HWH is provider also at the EU level (e.g. Volvo, Faurecia and CITROEN) as well as in other foreign countries. HWH supplies resistance welding equipment in form of control devices, quality assurance systems and complete packages to well-known machine construction companies. The welding controls can be networked enabling them to be incorporated into large scale production plants with a central control room.
Further HWH has also great experience in European research projects. They coordinated several large projects for instance XPRESS, ReBorn and I-RAMP³. Besides the coordination, HWH is also well known as a technology provider for high-tech solutions within collaborative research.
Role and contribution to Co-FACTOR:
HWH was the coordinator of core group FoF projects ReBorn and I-RAMP³ and as such brought in the point of view of those projects on smart components. As the partner from industry within Co-FACTOR, HWH was also the leader of WP4 “TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER”, which was the work package with strongest tie to industry, aiming at propelling and speeding up industrial deployment of the FoF results. Further HWH was involved in all other work packages WP1, 2, 4 and 5.
